Dangler Shapes: Square, Circle, Vertical — What Works Where

Danglers come in three standard shapes in India: square (or rectangle), circle, and vertical (tall rectangle). Each has its own visual rhythm and ideal use-case.

Square / rectangle (8×10 inch, A4)

The default. Reads like a flyer or a poster hung from the ceiling.

• Best for: general promotional messaging, sales announcements, product photos with text
• Content rule: 60% image, 40% text reads best at the standard 7-foot hanging height
• Cost: baseline for dangler pricing

Circle (8 or 12 inch diameter)

Visually softer. Creates a different "rhythm" when danglers hang in series. Premium feel.

• Best for: brand-led campaigns (logo-focused), boutique stores, food and lifestyle retail
• Content rule: works best with a single bold image or logo + minimal text
• Cost: ~20% more than rectangular at the same diameter (more material waste in die-cutting)
• Limitation: harder to fit dense text content

Vertical (5×12 inch, A5 portrait)

Tall and narrow. Visually distinctive when hung at a fan — alternating with square/circle danglers for variety.

• Best for: bullet-point promotions ("New arrivals", "Top picks"), departmental signage in supermarkets, multi-item lists
• Content rule: reads top-to-bottom; design accordingly with the headline at top
• Cost: same as square at comparable area

Mixed-shape campaigns

For large stores running campaigns, mixing shapes creates visual interest:

• Squares + circles alternating: most popular combination; creates rhythm without chaos
• All squares + one large circle as anchor: works for hero campaigns with one big idea
• All circles: looks coordinated but can feel monotonous in a long aisle

Custom shapes

For brand-specific campaigns, custom die-cut shapes are possible:

• A clothing brand might use a hanger-shaped dangler
• A food brand might use a logo-shaped dangler
• A festival campaign might use diya / star / kite shapes

Custom shapes cost ~40% more than standard shapes (the die has to be made specifically). Worth it for large campaigns; not worth it for under 50 pieces.
