Paper vs Sunboard Danglers — Durability and Lifespan

Danglers come in two material families: paper-based and rigid (sunboard / foam). The choice determines lifespan, cost, and the "permanence" signal of your campaign.

Paper danglers (250–350 GSM card)

Printed on heavy card stock, optionally laminated. Flexible — they curl slightly in humidity. Affordable.

• Lifespan in retail: 1–3 months before edges curl visibly
• Per-piece cost: the cheapest option
• Best for: short-term promotional campaigns, festival sales, weekly specials, anything you'll replace within a quarter
• Avoid for: permanent brand signage, anything you want to look "always there"

Laminated paper danglers

Paper card with matte or glossy lamination front and back. Extends life noticeably.

• Lifespan: 3–6 months in normal retail conditions
• Per-piece cost: ~30% more than uncoated paper
• Best for: seasonal campaigns (festive season banners, monsoon clearance), brand-aligned permanent signage

Sunboard danglers (3mm PVC foam)

Rigid foam plastic, prints crisp colour, doesn't warp. Heavy enough to hang straight without curling.

• Lifespan: 12+ months indoors
• Per-piece cost: 2–3× the cost of paper
• Best for: permanent brand identity in your store, premium product zones, anchor signs that stay across campaigns
• Weight consideration: heavier — need stronger anchor points; can't hang from cheap tape

Foam board danglers (5mm foam-core)

Premium option — paper-faced rigid foam. Looks high-end, feels substantial, lasts.

• Lifespan: 18–24 months indoors
• Per-piece cost: 3–4× the cost of paper
• Best for: showroom signage, brand store identity, year-long campaigns
• Avoid for: high-volume disposable campaigns (cost adds up fast)

The campaign vs identity rule

Think of it this way:

• Campaign signage (changes every few weeks/months) → paper or laminated paper
• Identity signage (stays for a year or more) → sunboard or foam board

The mix-and-match strategy

Many Indian retailers run both at once:

• Permanent sunboard danglers at section anchors (e.g. "Diwali Festive Zone" in a saree shop)
• Rotating paper danglers within each section for weekly promotions and pricing

This balances cost (cheap rotating signs) with brand consistency (premium anchor signs).
