Foam Board Signs for Indian Wedding Signage and Event Decor

Indian weddings layer signage across many surfaces — entrance, mandap, reception, photo backdrops, dining areas. Foam board has become the go-to material for most of it: light enough for staff to reposition during the event, premium enough to photograph well, affordable enough to throw away after.

Welcome / entrance boards

The first sign every guest sees. Conventions:

• Size: A1 (60×90 cm) or 2×3 ft for entrance; larger for mandap-side
• Content: couple names (largest), date, "welcomes you" or family names
• Material: 5mm foam-core board with matte lamination — photographs better under flash
• Mounting: wood/metal easel

Table number / seating signs

For weddings with assigned seating or labelled tables.

• Size: A5 (148×210 mm) for tabletop, A4 for prominent head tables
• Content: table number + table name (themes, decade, family side)
• Quantity: 8–30 depending on event size
• Material: 3mm sunboard or art card — light enough for tabletop, cheap enough to print many

Directional signs (corridor wayfinding)

For venues where reception is in a different room from the wedding hall, or where bathrooms / valet / photo booth are at separate locations.

• Size: A3 minimum (297×420 mm)
• Content: destination + arrow
• Quantity: 4–10
• Material: 5mm sunboard with hanging hooks (so they hang from venue walls without screws)

Photo backdrop signs

The hashtag backdrop, the "engaged" or "just married" board, the mehndi-art photo wall.

• Size: 3×4 ft minimum; 4×6 ft is the sweet spot for couple photos
• Content: wedding hashtag, couple names, a date, or a custom illustration
• Material: 5mm foam-core or printed vinyl on a frame for very large sizes

Mehndi / haldi / sangeet signs

For the ceremony-specific functions:

• Mehndi: "Bride to be" signs, hashtag boards, henna-themed welcome boards
• Haldi: turmeric-themed colour palette, simple yellow + script welcome signs
• Sangeet: dance-floor signs ("Bollywood Night"), bar signs ("Cocktails")

Things to skip

• Generic "Welcome" signs without couple names. The couple's identity is the whole point.
• QR codes on entrance boards. Guests don't scan QRs at weddings.
• Long quotes or Sanskrit shlokas in 8pt text. Use a printed pamphlet instead — signs aren't for reading paragraphs.

Quantity rule for a 200-guest wedding

Typical signage order: 1 entrance welcome board + 4–6 directional signs + 1 photo backdrop + 15–20 table number signs + 2 mandap-side signs = roughly 25–30 foam board pieces. Plan and order 2–3 weeks ahead of the event date.
