How to Set Up a Roll-Up Banner in 60 Seconds

A roll-up banner is the easiest large-format signage to set up — but only if you know the routine. Here's the full sequence, start to finish.

Setup (first time)

1. Place the base flat on the floor. The base is the heavy aluminium block at the bottom; the banner is rolled up inside it.
2. Extend the support pole. Two or three telescoping segments. Pull them out until the pole is fully extended — there's a click when the locking joint engages.
3. Insert the pole into the base. There's a hole/socket on the top of the base. The pole slides in vertically.
4. Pull the banner up. The top edge of the banner has a small clip; grip it and pull straight up.
5. Hook the banner clip onto the top of the pole. A small notch at the top of the pole; the clip slots into it.
6. Done. Total time: 30–60 seconds.

Takedown

1. Press the release button (or simply lift the clip off the pole notch). The banner spring-retracts back into the base — gently, with a counter-rotating mechanism.
2. Collapse the support pole back into its segments.
3. Slot pole and base into the included carry bag.

Travel

The carry bag is rectangular, roughly 90×30×15 cm with shoulder strap. It fits in:

• Any car boot
• The overhead compartment of most domestic Indian flights (it's just under the carry-on size limit)
• Train berth storage

The total weight (banner + base + pole) is around 4 kg. One person can carry comfortably for 200 metres.

Common first-time mistakes

• Pulling the banner up too fast. The spring mechanism can jam. Pull steadily over 1–2 seconds.
• Not extending the pole fully. The locking joint must click — otherwise the banner droops mid-event.
• Letting the banner snap back during takedown. Always retract gently with two hands — the spring is strong enough to crease the print if you let it slap closed.

What to do if it droops

If the banner sags forward instead of staying vertical, the issue is almost always one of: (1) the pole isn't locked into a segment, (2) the base isn't on level ground, or (3) the banner clip isn't fully seated on the pole notch. Re-check those three in order.
