India Shipping for Custom Prints — What to Expect

Shipping custom prints across India is mostly reliable in 2026 but has predictable failure modes. Here's what to expect, how to plan around delays, and what to do when something goes wrong.
Realistic shipping times
From a Karnataka-based printer (like us in Hubli-Dharwad) via standard ground shipping:
- Within Karnataka: 1–2 business days
- Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Goa: 2–3 business days
- Kerala, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh: 2–4 business days
- Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan: 3–5 business days
- West Bengal, Odisha: 3–5 business days
- Northeast (Assam, Meghalaya, etc.): 5–8 business days
- Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh: 5–8 business days
- Andaman & Nicobar Islands: 7–10 business days
Express options
Same-day-dispatch with overnight delivery is available to most metros via Shiprocket Express, DTDC Plus, etc. Adds ₹150–400 to standard shipping. Worth it for time-sensitive deliveries (wedding signage, event banners, last-minute gifts).
What ships well
- Small prints (business cards, photo prints, tent cards): shipped in rigid envelopes or small boxes — essentially zero damage rate
- Medium prints (brochures, A3 foam boards): shipped in custom-sized cartons — low damage rate (under 2%)
What's harder to ship
- Large acrylic prints (16×20 inch+): need rigid corner protection, double-walled box, "Fragile" stickers. Damage rate around 3–5% even with best packaging.
- Vinyl banners (10 ft+): rolled in tubes; risk of crushing if box is mishandled. Damage rate around 2–4%.
- Roll-up banner stands: the stand mechanism can be damaged if the box is dropped. Damage rate around 3%.
- Hardcover books: robust but corners can dent if box is crushed. Damage rate around 1–2%.
Tracking
Every shipment gets a tracking link sent via WhatsApp at dispatch. The link works across all major Indian couriers (Shiprocket-aggregated). Status updates show: dispatched → in transit → out for delivery → delivered (with delivery time).
What goes wrong (honestly)
- Wrong address typos — courier returns the parcel after 3 attempts. Always double-check the address before dispatch.
- Recipient unavailable on first attempt — courier retries 1–2 times; after that, parcel is returned to origin.
- Damage in transit — happens occasionally despite best packaging. Photo evidence required for the courier insurance claim.
- Festival-season delays — September–November traffic adds 1–3 days to standard timelines.
- Pincode-not-serviceable warnings — rare for major cities; sometimes shows for remote rural pincodes. We'll flag this before accepting the order.
What to do if it goes wrong
If your shipment is:
- Delayed beyond the promised timeline: WhatsApp us with the order number; we escalate with the courier directly.
- Damaged on arrival: send 2–3 photos within 7 days. We process a free reprint immediately under our quality guarantee.
- Missing from the box: photo of the opened box + the packing slip. We resolve within 24 hours.
- Returned to us due to address issue: we'll WhatsApp you and arrange a re-dispatch (sometimes with a small re-shipping fee depending on the case).
